What Is Trance Healing? How It Works and How It Differs from Reiki

What Is Trance Healing?

Trance Healing is a spiritual practice where we enter a deeply relaxed, meditative state and allow our Spirit Friends, also known as Spirit Guides, to work through us.

We can practise it for ourselves or offer healing to others.

Unlike what some people imagine when they hear the word trance, we don't need to lose consciousness or give up control.
We simply become still, connect with Spirit, and allow the experience to unfold naturally.

Have you ever experienced one of those beautiful moments during meditation when everything around you seems to become quiet?
Your thoughts slow down, your body relaxes, and for a little while, the worries of everyday life seem to fade into the background.

For me, Trance Healing takes this experience a little further.

Trance Healing is a form of spiritual healing mediumship in which we connect with our Spirit Guides, or as I prefer to call them, our Spirit Friends, and allow them to work through us.

If you are already familiar with Reiki, you may notice some similarities. Both practices involve becoming a channel for healing energy, relaxing, and allowing rather than forcing something to happen.

But there is a difference in how I personally experience them.

When I practise Reiki, I allow Reiki energy to flow through me.
With Trance Healing, I consciously open myself to my Spirit Friends and allow them to work through me while I remain in a gentle trance state.

I will explain more about these differences later, as I have found both practices to be wonderful in their own ways.

Now, I know the word trance might sound a little mysterious, especially if you have never experienced it before.
Perhaps you imagine someone sitting completely unconscious, unaware of what is happening around them, while mysterious things take place. But this is not how I experience Trance Healing at all.

When I practise, I enter a light trance state, something quite similar to a very deep meditation.
I am still aware of my surroundings, but most of the time, my attention is simply focused on my breathing. Sometimes, I become so deeply absorbed in it that it almost feels as though I am becoming one with my breath. My body relaxes, my thoughts become quieter, and I allow myself to open to the presence of my Spirit Friends.

And here is something I particularly love about Trance Healing.

I don't have to make anything happen.

I don't have to figure out where healing is needed, direct energy to a certain place, or worry about doing everything perfectly.
Of course, Reiki can be practised in a similar way, allowing the energy to flow naturally without trying to control it.
However, in Reiki, we often use different hand positions throughout a session.

With Trance Healing, I don't need to do that. I can simply remain still, relax, and allow my Spirit Friends to do their work.
My role is simply to become a clear channel and allow my Spirit Friends to do their work.

Of course, learning to let go and trust is something that develops with practice. We are so used to wanting to control everything in our everyday lives that simply allowing things to happen can feel unfamiliar at first.
But that is also part of the beauty of Trance Healing.

Over the years, it has become much more than another healing method for me. It has become a personal spiritual practice that I return to again and again, especially when life becomes challenging.

And I would love to tell you a little more about it.

Just a little note before we continue:
Trance Healing Mediumship and Trance Mediumship may sound very similar, but they are not quite the same. While Trance Mediumship focuses more on communication with the Spirit World, Trance Healing focuses mainly on spiritual healing, although messages can also be part of the healing process.

I'll explain the differences in a little more detail further down, because I know these two practices can sometimes be confusing, especially when you're just starting out!

A Little About Me

Hi, I'm Daniela! I'm a spiritual medium, Trance Healer, Reiki Master and Teacher, and the person behind GateLightELearning.

Spiritual healing and mediumship have been part of my life for many years, and along the way, I've explored different ways of connecting with the Spirit World.

Trance Healing has become one of my favourite practices, not only when offering healing to others but also for my own spiritual development and well-being.

I have always loved sharing what I've learned through my own experiences. And believe me, there is always something new to discover on this spiritual journey!

Perhaps you'll discover something that inspires you to explore it for yourself.

What Is the Difference Between Trance Healing Mediumship and Trance Mediumship?

Trance Healing Mediumship and Trance Mediumship may sound very similar, but there is a difference. In Trance Healing, our main focus is on healing, although we may also receive messages from our Spirit Friends that help with the healing process. Trance Mediumship, on the other hand, focuses more on communication and sharing messages from the Spirit World. And no, you don't have to be a Trance Medium to learn Trance Healing!

When I first started exploring mediumship, I discovered that there are different ways of working with our Spirit Friends. And although Trance Healing Mediumship and Trance Mediumship are closely connected, they are not quite the same.

In Trance Mediumship, the medium allows a Spirit Friend or communicator to work through them, sometimes even speaking through the medium to share messages, teachings, or information. How this happens can vary, depending on the medium and their development.

In Trance Healing, as I practise and teach it, I invite my Spirit Friends to work with me, with the intention of helping the person receiving the healing.
And yes, receiving messages can also be part of a Trance Healing session! In fact, during my guided meditation, there is a part where we invite our Spirit Friends to share a message that may be helpful to the healing process.  This might come as a few words, an impression, a feeling, or something meaningful to the person receiving the healing.

Of course, a message doesn't always come through, and that's perfectly fine. For me, the healing itself is always the main purpose.

You can explore Trance Healing without learning to speak in trance or becoming a Trance Medium. Some people eventually become interested in both, while others are perfectly happy concentrating on healing.

And that's the wonderful thing about spiritual development. We don't all have to follow the same path.

What Does a Trance State Actually Feel Like?

A light trance state can feel like a deep meditation, where your mind becomes quieter, your body relaxes, and your awareness turns inward. Some people experience warmth, tingling, or a sense of peacefulness, while others notice very little. Everyone experiences trance differently.

This is probably one of the first questions people have when they hear about Trance Healing. And it is a good question, because how do you explain something that is such a personal experience?

For me, entering a light trance state feels like gradually moving away from the noise of everyday life. You know those days when your mind is constantly busy? You think about what you still need to do, what happened yesterday, what might happen tomorrow, and perhaps a hundred other things in between.

When I sit down for Trance Healing, I allow all of that to become less important for a while.
I relax, focus on my breathing, and gradually become quieter within myself.

When my Spirit Friends come closer, I begin to notice subtle changes in the energy around me. It almost feels as though the energy becomes denser. It is difficult to put into words, but their presence feels loving, familiar, and comforting.

Then comes another special moment, when my Spirit Friends begin to link with me. I can clearly recognise when this happens because they give me a particular sign. Over time, I have become so familiar with this sign that I know exactly when the connection is taking place.

I don't necessarily see my Spirit Friends, but if I do, it is through my inner awareness rather than with my physical eyes.
For me, the connection is much more about feeling their presence.
I can sense when they are close and recognise that connection in my own way.

And that is something I always want beginners to understand.
You don't have to see, hear, or feel anything extraordinary to practise Trance Healing.

Some people notice warmth or tingling sensations.
Others experience a feeling of heaviness or lightness in their bodies.
Some may become emotional and begin to cry, perhaps just a few tears, or sometimes quite a lot. It can feel as though emotions they have been holding on to are finally being released.
Others simply enjoy a deep state of relaxation.
And some people may wonder whether anything happened at all! Personally, I have never experienced this, either in my own practice or when working with others. But I can certainly imagine that it might happen.
And that is perfectly okay, too.

Everyone experiences Trance Healing differently, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it.

We all experience meditation and spiritual practices differently. What one person feels very strongly, another might hardly notice.

I believe we sometimes make spiritual development more complicated than it needs to be because we expect something special to happen.
Instead of worrying about whether you are doing it correctly, why not simply enjoy the experience?

Give yourself permission to relax, explore, and discover what Trance Healing feels like for you.

Who Are Our Spirit Friends?

In spiritual healing and mediumship, Spirit Friends are the spiritual helpers we believe accompany and support us. They may include Spirit Guides, teachers, angels, loved ones who have passed, or Spirit Animals. I personally call them Spirit Friends because, for me, the connection is built on love, trust, and friendship.

Trance Healing session

You may have noticed that I keep talking about Spirit Friends rather than Spirit Guides.
There is a reason for that.

When people hear the term Spirit Guide, they often imagine one particular spiritual being who guides them through life.

But in my understanding, the Spirit World is much more diverse than that. Our spiritual helpers may be teachers, angels, guides, loved ones who have passed into the Spirit World, Spirit Animals, or spiritual beings with particular knowledge and experience.

I also believe that some may have special areas of expertise, just as people here in the physical world do.

So, rather than trying to find a separate name for everyone, I simply call them my Spirit Friends. It feels more natural to me.
And honestly, I like the word friends. It reflects the relationship I feel I have with the Spirit World. It is not something distant or formal.

For me, it is a connection built on love, respect, and trust. When I practise Trance Healing, I don't spend time trying to identify exactly who is present or what their name might be. I simply invite my Spirit Friends to work with me.

Of course, everyone has their own beliefs and understanding of the Spirit World. You might prefer the term Spirit Guides, Healing Guides, or something else entirely. Use whatever feels comfortable to you.

What matters most to me is the connection itself, not the name we give it.

How Does Trance Healing Work?

Trance Healing works by entering a relaxed, meditative state and allowing Spirit Guides, or Spirit Friends, to work through us. In my practice, I begin with self-healing to prepare myself.
If I am offering healing to someone else, I then establish a connection with that person. Rather than trying to direct the energy, I remain relaxed and receptive, allowing the experience to unfold naturally.

One of the beautiful things about Trance Healing is that you can practise it for yourself or offer healing to others.

Practising Trance Healing for yourself can be a wonderful way to relax, connect with your Spirit Friends, and take some time for your own well-being.

Reiki is quite similar in this respect. When learning Reiki, we begin by practising on ourselves before offering healing to others.

For Trance Healing, you don't need complicated equipment, a massage table, or special clothing.
Just find somewhere comfortable where you won't be disturbed and allow yourself some quiet time.
You can lie down if you prefer, but I recommend sitting comfortably, as this makes it less likely that you'll fall asleep during the meditation.

When offering Trance Healing to someone else, you always begin with a Trance Healing session for yourself. This is an important part of preparing yourself to become a clear channel through which healing energy can flow.

In my own practice, I take time to relax, connect with my Spirit Friends, and enter that gentle trance state. I allow myself to receive healing first, rather than immediately focusing on the person I will be working with.

For me, this preparation is essential. It helps me let go of everyday thoughts and worries, become centred, and deepen my connection with my Spirit Friends.

Once I feel ready, I establish a connection with the other person, whether they are sitting right beside me or somewhere else in the world.

From that point on, I don't try to control what happens or decide where healing is needed. I simply remain relaxed and receptive, focusing on my breathing and trusting my Spirit Friends to do their work.

Of course, there is a little more to the actual process, and I explain how to do this step by step in my Trance Healing Mediumship Online Course.

This may sound almost too simple, especially if you are familiar with healing methods that involve different steps or techniques.

But for me, that is part of what makes Trance Healing so special.
It teaches us to let go, trust, and allow the experience to unfold naturally.

What Happens During an In-Person Trance Healing Session?

During an in-person Trance Healing session, the recipient usually sits or lies comfortably while the practitioner enters a relaxed, meditative state. Depending on personal preference, the practitioner may gently place a hand on the recipient's shoulder, hold their hands, or work without physical contact. The focus is on remaining still, relaxed, and receptive throughout the session.

Trance Healing session with Lina and Daniela

People sometimes ask me whether Trance Healing involves placing your hands on different parts of the body, like Reiki.

Not necessarily. Personally, I prefer to sit beside the person receiving the healing and gently place one hand on their shoulder.

For me, this creates a comfortable connection without needing to move around during the session.

But there is no rule that says you must do it this way.

You can sit beside someone without touching them at all. If the person is lying on a massage table, you might feel more comfortable gently resting your hands on their head, provided they agree. Holding hands is another possibility. The important thing is that both people feel comfortable and that any physical contact is welcomed.

Once I have settled into my trance state, I usually remain still. I am not concentrating on moving my hands or remembering the next position.

My attention is on remaining connected with my Spirit Friends and allowing them to work through me.

And I have found that this simplicity makes Trance Healing a very enjoyable practice for me. There is no need to rush through a sequence of movements or worry about whether you remembered everything.
You can simply relax and be present.

Trance Healing vs. Reiki: What's the Difference?

Reiki and Trance Healing are both spiritual healing practices, but they differ in how practitioners approach the healing process. Reiki practitioners work with Reiki energy, often using different hand positions. In Trance Healing, the practitioner enters a relaxed, meditative state and allows Spirit Guides, or Spirit Friends, to work through them. Both practices can complement each other, and you don't need Reiki experience to learn Trance Healing.

As a Reiki Master and Teacher, this is a question I find particularly interesting.  I have worked with Reiki for many years, and I love both practices. In fact, I see quite a few similarities between them.

With Reiki, I experience myself as a channel for Reiki energy.
I allow the energy to flow through me and usually work with different hand positions, depending on the session.  Reiki can also feel like a form of meditation. While offering healing, I become relaxed and focused, allowing the energy to flow naturally.
However, I usually move my hands from one position to another throughout the session.

Trance Healing feels a little different.  For me, it feels much more like a deep meditation. I sit comfortably, remain still, and gradually become so relaxed that most of my attention is simply on my breathing.
Sometimes, I become so deeply absorbed in it that it almost feels as though I am becoming one with my breath.
Here, my focus is more directly on connecting with my Spirit Friends.
As I enter a light trance state, I allow them to work through me rather than consciously directing the process myself.

Unlike the way I usually practise Reiki, I don't need to move my hands through different positions.
I can simply remain still, focus on my breathing, and allow the healing session to unfold naturally.

There is also another difference I have noticed over the years: the energy itself feels different to me.
This is actually quite difficult to describe because it is more of a feeling than something I can easily put into words.

When I practise Reiki, I recognise the familiar feeling of Reiki energy flowing.
But when I practise Trance Healing and connect with my Spirit Friends, the energy feels different.
I can clearly recognise the difference when I experience it, but explaining exactly what makes one feel different from the other is not so easy.
Perhaps it is something you have to experience for yourself to understand what I mean.

But despite these differences, the two practices feel closely related to me.
Both involve becoming relaxed, opening ourselves to spiritual healing, and allowing rather than forcing.

Perhaps the biggest difference, at least in my own experience, is where I place my attention and how I experience the healing process.

With Reiki, I focus on allowing Reiki energy to flow, often moving my hands through different positions.

With Trance Healing, I remain still in a deep, meditative state, focusing on my breathing and my connection with my Spirit Friends, allowing them to work through me.

Of course, these are my own experiences. Other Reiki practitioners and Trance Healers may experience these practices differently, and that is perfectly fine.

And do you have to choose between the two?

Absolutely not!

I believe Reiki and Trance Healing can complement each other beautifully.
If you already practise Reiki, you may find that some aspects of Trance Healing feel familiar, while others offer you something new to explore.

And if you have never practised Reiki, that is perfectly okay too.
You don't need any Reiki experience to begin learning Trance Healing.
Both practices can have their own special place in your spiritual journey.

Comparison of Reiki and Trance Healing, including healing energy, Spirit Friends, hand positions, meditation, and self-healing.

These are general differences based on my own experiences with Reiki and Trance Healing.

Other practitioners may experience or practise these methods differently, and that's perfectly fine.

I believe both practices can complement each other beautifully. For example, many Reiki practitioners also feel connected to their Spirit Guides during a healing session. So, the connection with the Spirit World is not necessarily something unique to Trance Healing.

For me, both practices have their own special qualities, and I enjoy having them both as part of my spiritual journey.

Do You Need to Be a Medium to Learn Trance Healing?

No, you don't need to be a medium or have previous mediumship experience to learn Trance Healing.
Beginners can start by learning to relax, enter a gentle trance state, and explore their spiritual awareness.
With regular practice, you can gradually become more familiar with your own way of connecting with your Spirit Friends.

This is another question I hear quite often. And my answer is no.

You don't need to be an experienced medium or have years of mediumship training before you can begin exploring Trance Healing.
In fact, I see Trance Healing as a beautiful way to explore and develop your mediumship abilities.

When we regularly take time to become quiet, connect with our Spirit Friends, and explore that connection, we gradually become more familiar with our own spiritual awareness.

But this is not something we need to hurry. I sometimes think people put far too much pressure on themselves when learning mediumship.
They want to know whether they are connecting correctly, whether they should see something, whether they should hear a message, or why another student seems to experience more than they do.

But spiritual development is not a competition. You don't need to compare yourself with anyone else. I always encourage my students to approach the experience with curiosity and patience.

Start where you are. Learn to relax, enjoy the meditation, and become familiar with your own way of experiencing spiritual connection.
The rest can develop naturally over time.

Can You Practise Trance Healing for Yourself?

Yes, you can practise Trance Healing for yourself, and self-healing is an important part of the practice. By entering a relaxed, meditative state and connecting with your Spirit Friends, you can take time for your own well-being, explore your spiritual awareness, and enjoy moments of peace and relaxation.

In fact, I always encourage my students to make self-healing a regular part of their Trance Healing practice.

Just as you can practise Reiki for yourself, you can also practise Trance Healing for your own healing and well-being.

You don't always need another person to receive a healing session. In fact, self-healing is an important part of both practices.

I believe that before we focus too much on offering healing to other people, it is wonderful to become familiar with the practice ourselves.
When you practise Trance Healing for yourself, you have the opportunity to explore the experience without worrying about someone else's expectations.
You can discover how you feel when you enter a light trance state, how you experience your connection with your Spirit Friends, and what helps you relax.
You can also simply enjoy the quiet time.

And I think that is something we sometimes underestimate.
Life can be busy. We carry responsibilities, worries, and emotions that we don't always have time to process.

For me, Trance Healing creates a space where I can acknowledge those feelings without becoming completely caught up in them.
Sometimes I come out of a meditation feeling lighter.
Other times I simply feel rested. I don't expect every session to be the same, and I don't think we should.
The experience itself is enough.

How Trance Healing Became Part of My Own Life

I would like to share something a little more personal here because Trance Healing became especially meaningful to me during a rather challenging time in my life.

You see, I was going through one of those stages in life that many women know all too well. Yes, I'm talking about menopause. As if getting older wasn't interesting enough already! There were physical changes, emotional ups and downs, and days when I simply didn't feel like myself.

After learning Trance Healing, I thought, well, this might actually be the perfect time to put what I've learned into practice!

When I learned Trance Healing, we were encouraged to join a group and meet regularly to practise sitting in Spirit.
This simply means spending quiet time in meditation, developing our connection with the Spirit World.
And I actually had a small practice group that met in my home, which was always a wonderful experience for everyone involved. I would guide the group through a meditation, and afterwards, we would sit together and share our experiences. I really enjoyed those gatherings.

But you know how it is. Life gets busy. There are families, jobs, appointments, and always something that needs to be done. Finding a time when everyone was available wasn't always easy, and meeting regularly became a bit of a challenge. So I thought, why not continue practising on my own? After all, I didn't want my spiritual development to depend on everyone's calendar!

I decided to make Trance Healing part of my daily routine. Every day, when the kids were at school, my husband was at work, and the house was finally quiet (a rare luxury when you have children!), I would sit down in the same chair, at the same time, and practise Trance Healing.

But because I really enjoyed practising with others, I came up with a little idea. I simply imagined that I had a whole group of people sitting and meditating with me! Some of the people I included were people I knew in real life, such as my dad and a few friends who could use a little healing themselves.

Of course, these were people I knew were comfortable with me including them in my healing practice. In my imagination, I invited them in spirit to join my little circle, as though we were all sitting together and sharing that peaceful healing experience. And why not? At least my imaginary group was always on time, and nobody ever cancelled a session!

Now, maybe you're reading this and thinking, "Wow, this lady has some funny ideas!" Well, maybe I do! But think about it. If you believe in Spirit Friends and connecting with the Spirit World, perhaps my imaginary healing circle doesn't sound so strange after all. And who says we can't use a little imagination in our spiritual practice?

Anyway, I really enjoyed these sessions. Every day, I would settle into my favourite chair, relax, connect with my Spirit Friends, and allow myself to enter that familiar, gentle trance state.

These daily sessions became one of my favourite moments of the day. Not because something extraordinary happened during every meditation, but because I had created a little space just for myself. For a while, I didn't have to think about what needed to be done, who needed something, or what was waiting for me once everyone came home. I could simply sit, breathe, and enjoy that peaceful connection with my Spirit Friends.

And during that time in my life, I really needed those moments.
Over time, I noticed that I felt more emotionally balanced and better able to cope with the changes I was going through. Of course, I'm not saying that Trance Healing made every menopause symptom magically disappear. Wouldn't that have been wonderful! But emotionally, those daily moments of stillness made a meaningful difference for me.

Looking back, I think this experience taught me something important, something I still share with my students today. We spend so much of our lives taking care of everyone and everything around us that we sometimes forget to make a little time for ourselves.

For me, Trance Healing became one of the ways I learned to do exactly that.
And the best part? I didn't need a special place, expensive equipment, or even a practice group that could meet every day. Just my favourite chair, a little quiet time, and my Spirit Friends.

Why I Created My Own Guided Trance Healing Meditations

There is actually a little story behind the guided meditations I use in my Trance Healing course.

Even though I already knew how to practise Trance Healing on my own, I sometimes wished that someone would simply guide me through the process.

Remember the little practice group I had in my home? I was always the one guiding everyone through the meditation. And while I really enjoyed doing that, sometimes I wished I could be the one just sitting back, closing my eyes, and listening! You know what I mean? I wanted to be able to relax, connect with my Spirit Friends, and enjoy the experience without having to think about what came next.

So I thought, why not create my own guided meditations? And that is exactly what I did!
Originally, I created them just for myself. I wanted something I could listen to whenever I felt like practising, without having to guide myself through every step. And I have to say, I really enjoyed having someone guide me for a change, even if that someone was actually my own recorded voice!

Later, I realised that these meditations could also be helpful for other people, especially those who were just beginning to explore Trance Healing or didn't have a practice group nearby. And that is how they eventually became part of my online Trance Healing course. I love the thought that something I originally created for my own spiritual practice can now help someone else begin theirs.

And here's a little something you might not know:
this is actually how all my guided meditations came to life! I originally created them for myself, because I wanted to use them in my own spiritual practice. Only later did I begin sharing them with others.

So, in a way, GateLightELearning grew out of my own curiosity, experiences, and desire to continue learning and exploring the Spirit World.

And now I get to share those experiences with you.

Can Trance Healing Be Practised at a Distance?

Yes, Trance Healing can be practised at a distance. In this spiritual practice, the recipient does not need to be physically present. The practitioner enters a relaxed, meditative state, connects with their Spirit Friends, and sets the intention to offer healing to someone elsewhere. Distance Trance Healing is based on spiritual beliefs and personal experiences rather than scientifically established healing effects.

Distance healing is something I have practised for many years, both with Reiki and Trance Healing.

If you are familiar with Reiki, you probably already know about distance healing. In Reiki Level 2, we learn how to offer healing to someone who is not physically present, using Reiki symbols, including the distance healing symbol.

Well, you can also practise distance healing with Trance Healing, although the approach is a little different.
And one of the things I love about it is how simple it can be. For me, the preparation is almost exactly the same as for an in-person session.

I always begin with a Trance Healing session for myself. I sit comfortably, relax, connect with my Spirit Friends, and allow myself to enter that familiar, gentle trance state.
I let my Spirit Friends work with me first, allowing myself to receive healing and become a clear channel for Spirit.
Once I feel ready, I set my intention and connect with the person who will be receiving the healing, whether they live just around the corner or on the other side of the world.

And that's really it! I don't need any special symbols, like I would normally use in Reiki distance healing.
I don't need to move my hands or do anything complicated.
I simply remain still, focus on my breathing, and trust my Spirit Friends to do their work.

Of course, this is how I personally practise distance Trance Healing.
Other practitioners may have their own approaches.

Now, you might be wondering, how can someone receive healing when they are not even in the same room?

That's a fair question! Distance healing is based on spiritual beliefs and personal experiences, and I understand that not everyone will see it the same way.
You may also have heard about scientific studies exploring whether prayer for another person can influence their well-being. Researchers have looked into this, although the results have been mixed and do not provide clear scientific evidence that healing can take place across a distance. For me, distance Trance Healing is part of my spiritual practice and my connection with my Spirit Friends.

I approach it with the same intention and trust as I would an in-person session.
And whether someone is sitting right beside me or many miles away, the way I connect with my Spirit Friends remains the same.

I know that some spiritual experiences are difficult to explain in words, especially to someone who has never tried them.

So, my advice? If you're curious, give it a try and see what you experience for yourself. You don't have to believe everything someone tells you. Explore it with an open mind, without expectations, and see what it means to you.

What Can Someone Experience During Trance Healing?

During Trance Healing, people may experience different sensations and emotions. Some feel warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or a sense of peace. Others may become emotional, sometimes crying or feeling a sense of relief afterwards. Every experience is different, and there is no particular feeling or reaction you need to have during a Trance Healing session.

Man practicing Trance Healing

Over the years, I have noticed something interesting when offering Trance Healing to other people.  Sometimes, people begin to cry. It might be just a few tears, or sometimes quite a lot.  And I don't necessarily mean that they are sad.  Often, it seems as though emotions they have been holding on to are finally finding a way to come out.

Perhaps you know that feeling yourself.  Sometimes we carry so much inside us without even realising it. We continue with our daily lives, take care of our responsibilities, and keep going, often without giving ourselves much time to process how we actually feel.

And then, when we finally relax and allow ourselves to let go, those emotions may begin to surface.  I have seen this happen during Trance Healing sessions many times.

Afterwards, people have often told me that they feel relieved or lighter, almost as though they have put down something heavy they had been carrying for a long time.

And I have to say, these moments have always been very meaningful to me.
Of course, I cannot tell you exactly why someone cries or what is happening for them emotionally. Everyone has their own story, and sometimes we may not even know ourselves why certain emotions come to the surface.

But I do believe that allowing ourselves to become quiet and deeply relaxed can create space for feelings we may not have fully acknowledged.

Now, not everyone experiences such an emotional release during Trance Healing. Some people notice warmth or tingling sensations. Others feel a sense of heaviness or lightness in their bodies, while some simply enjoy a wonderful feeling of peace and relaxation.

And perhaps there are also people who don't notice anything particularly unusual during a session. I personally haven't experienced that when working with others. So far, nobody has told me that they didn't notice or feel anything at all. But I can certainly imagine that it might happen.

After all, everyone is different, and we don't all experience spiritual healing in the same way.

I never want anyone to feel that they must cry, feel energy, or have some extraordinary experience for a Trance Healing session to be worthwhile. Sometimes, simply allowing yourself to relax and enjoy a little peaceful time is enough.
And I think that's something we can all appreciate in our busy lives.

What Should You Do After Practising or Receiving Trance Healing?

Whether you're practising Trance Healing yourself or receiving a session from someone else, there is no complicated aftercare routine to follow. Take a moment to settle, return to your everyday activities when you feel ready, and allow yourself to reflect on the experience if you wish.

You might wonder whether there is something special you should do after Trance Healing.

Perhaps drink lots of water, write down everything you experienced, or spend the rest of the day relaxing?

Well, not necessarily!

After Practising Trance Healing Yourself
Personally, when I finish my Trance Healing meditation, I simply return to my normal daily life. That's it! No special rituals or complicated routines.

Of course, I take a moment to become fully aware of my surroundings before getting up, but then I carry on with whatever I was doing.
If something interesting happened during my meditation, I might reflect on it afterwards.
But I don't feel the need to analyse every little sensation or experience.

After Receiving a Trance Healing Session
If you've received Trance Healing from a practitioner, the experience may be a little different.
Some people feel deeply relaxed or peaceful afterwards, while others may feel emotional, tired, or simply no different than before. Everyone's experience is individual.

I would recommend taking a few moments to settle before rushing off to your next activity. If you'd like to talk about your experience with the practitioner, you can certainly do that.  You might also enjoy writing down your thoughts or simply spending a little quiet time on your own.

But again, there is no special routine you must follow.  And if you feel perfectly fine and ready to get on with your day, that's absolutely okay too!

My Personal Thoughts
I believe spiritual practices should fit naturally into our everyday lives, rather than becoming another list of things we feel obligated to do.  Sometimes a peaceful moment is simply a peaceful moment, and we don't need to turn it into something more complicated.

After all, the laundry won't fold itself just because we've been meditating!

Is Trance Healing Safe for Beginners?

Trance Healing can be a gentle, beginner-friendly spiritual practice when approached gradually and without pressure. In the light trance meditation I teach, you remain aware of your surroundings and can open your eyes or stop whenever you wish. Beginners start with relaxation and inner peace before exploring a connection with their Spirit Friends. Everyone should move at their own pace and stop if they feel uncomfortable.

Whenever I teach something involving trance or mediumship, I think it is important that people feel comfortable and understand what they are doing.
This is also why I prefer teaching Trance Healing step by step.
We don't begin by trying to enter a particularly deep trance state or immediately attempting to connect with the Spirit World.
Instead, I always start with an Inner Peace Meditation.

The purpose is simple:
to relax, become comfortable, and learn how it feels to settle into a peaceful state of mind.
There is no pressure to experience anything spiritual at this stage.
You are simply learning to become still and enjoy that feeling of inner peace.

And here is a little trick I like to teach my students!
Once you have experienced that wonderful feeling of inner peace, try to remember what it felt like.
Become familiar with it, because the next time you meditate, you can use that memory to help yourself return to the same peaceful state.
Think of it as a little shortcut! Instead of having to start all over again every time, you gradually learn to recognise that feeling and settle into it more easily.
And this becomes particularly helpful when we move on to the next step: inviting our Spirit Friends to come closer and exploring that spiritual connection.

I find this gradual approach particularly helpful for beginners.
You know what you are doing, you can take your time, and you remain in control of your own experience.

During the light trance state I teach, you are still aware of your surroundings.
You can open your eyes, move, or stop the meditation whenever you choose.
And if something feels uncomfortable, there is absolutely no reason to continue. You can simply open your eyes, bring your attention back to the room around you, and perhaps try again another day if you feel like it.

I believe spiritual development should be something we explore willingly, not something we force ourselves to do. And there is something else I have noticed over the years.

Many people who become interested in Trance Healing already feel some kind of connection or curiosity toward the Spirit World.
Sometimes I even wonder whether their Spirit Friends are the ones gently encouraging them to explore this path!

Well, that's just my own spiritual thought, of course, but I find it a lovely possibility.
Whatever brings you to Trance Healing, I believe the most important thing is to feel comfortable, follow your own pace, and enjoy learning.
After all, spiritual development is a journey, not a race!

Is Trance Healing the Same as Hypnosis?

Trance Healing and hypnosis can both involve relaxation and focused attention, but they have different purposes. Hypnosis often uses suggestions to work towards a particular goal, while Trance Healing is a spiritual practice focused on connecting with Spirit Friends and allowing healing energy to flow.

When people hear the word trance, they sometimes imagine someone swinging a pocket watch and saying, “You are getting very sleepy…”

Well, fortunately, no pocket watches are needed for Trance Healing!  I've actually studied hypnosis myself, so I've had the opportunity to explore both approaches. And although they share some similarities, I've found them to be quite different in my own practice.

During hypnosis, suggestions may be used to help someone work towards a particular goal, such as changing a habit or developing greater confidence.

In my Trance Healing practice, however, I don't use suggestions in that way. Instead, I begin with meditation, gradually allowing myself to enter a peaceful state of awareness. From there, I invite my Spirit Friends to work with me, without trying to direct or control what happens.

One thing I find important to explain is that the word trance doesn't automatically mean losing consciousness. Even during hypnosis, people can remain aware of their surroundings. The same applies to the light trance state I teach.

So, although the two practices may sound similar at first, the intention behind them is quite different.  And perhaps that's the most important thing to remember: you don't need to experience anything dramatic or mysterious. Sometimes the simplest experiences are the most meaningful.

How Often Should You Practise Trance Healing?

Ideally, I recommend practising Trance Healing every day, preferably around the same time, and allowing approximately 30 minutes for each session. But daily practice isn't essential. If your schedule is busy, once or twice a week is a wonderful place to start. What matters most is finding a routine that feels comfortable and enjoyable for you.

If you ask me how often you should practise, my first answer would probably be:
every day, if you can.

I also like the idea of practising around the same time each day.
Not because Spirit is only available at certain hours, but because having a regular routine can make it easier to settle into your meditation.

And how long should a Trance Healing session last?
I would recommend allowing around 30 minutes for a session.
Of course, if you feel comfortable and would like to stay in that peaceful state a little longer, you certainly can!
There is no need to watch the clock constantly.
The idea is to give yourself enough time to relax, connect with your Spirit Friends, and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

However, I also know how life works! We have families, jobs, children, appointments, and countless other things that need our attention.
And sometimes, even when we really want to meditate, the day simply gets away from us.

So please don't turn your spiritual practice into another responsibility that makes you feel guilty.
If you cannot practise every day, that is okay. Try once or twice a week. Even a regular weekly practice can give you an opportunity to become familiar with the experience and gradually develop your connection.

What matters to me is not how many sessions you manage to fit into your calendar, or whether you meditate for exactly 30 minutes.
It is that you enjoy the time you spend practising.
And I think that is much more important than following a perfect schedule.

Practising Alone or Joining a Mediumship Group

You don't need to join a mediumship group to practise Trance Healing. You can develop your spiritual practice independently at home, using guided meditations or simply enjoying quiet time in meditation. However, practising with others can be a wonderful opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and learn together. Both approaches have their benefits, and you can choose what works best for you.

Trance Healing Mediumship Circle

When I was developing my own mediumship and Trance Healing practice, I really enjoyed practising with other people.
There is something special about coming together with others who share a similar interest in spiritual development. You can exchange experiences, ask questions, learn from one another, and sometimes discover that someone else has experienced something very similar to you.
And believe me, it can be quite interesting to hear what others experience during their meditations!

But as I've already shared in my own story, finding a suitable group or meeting regularly isn't always easy. Perhaps there isn't a group nearby, or the meeting times simply don't fit into your family life or work schedule. And that's perfectly okay.

You don't need to be part of a mediumship group to practise Trance Healing or develop your spiritual connection.
You can practise on your own, in your own home, whenever you have a little quiet time.

And hey, if you miss the feeling of practising with others, you can always try my little imaginary healing circle idea!
At least you won't have to worry about finding a time when everyone is available.
Your imaginary group will always show up! All jokes aside, I actually enjoyed that experience, so why not give it a try if the idea appeals to you?

Of course, guided meditations can also be especially helpful when practising alone.
Instead of having someone physically present to guide you, you can simply listen to a meditation and follow along at your own pace.
That is one of the reasons I enjoy sharing my guided meditations through my online courses.
They give people the opportunity to explore these practices even when attending a group isn't possible.

And if you have the opportunity to join a mediumship development or Trance Healing group, I would encourage you to give it a try.
Practising with others can be a wonderful experience.

You don't have to choose one or the other!
Perhaps you enjoy practising alone during the week and meeting with a group occasionally to share your experiences.
Or maybe you simply prefer your own company when meditating. Nothing wrong with that either!

Find your own way, something that feels comfortable and fits into your life.
After all, your spiritual development is your own journey, and there is no single path that everyone must follow.

Want to Explore Trance Healing Further?

If you already practise Reiki, perhaps this Deep Dive has made you curious about experiencing Trance Healing yourself.

But maybe Reiki simply doesn't appeal to you. That's perfectly fine! There are other paths to explore, and Trance Healing could be a wonderful alternative!

And if you feel called to develop your abilities as a psychic medium, Trance Healing can also be a beautiful way to deepen your spiritual awareness and strengthen your connection with your Spirit Friends.

Of course, if you're completely new to spiritual healing, you're just as welcome!

I started creating my Trance Healing Meditations back in 2015 and published my Trance Healing Mediumship Online Course in 2017. And yes, you'll actually see me teaching in the videos! A slightly younger Daniela, but still me!

Remember my little practice group in that cozy basement room with its lovely energy?
In a way, my online course allows me to share that same experience with you, just without you having to visit my basement!

We begin with the Inner Peace Meditation, then gradually explore connecting with Spirit Friends, self-healing, healing others, and distance healing.
You can learn at your own pace, repeat the meditations whenever you like, and even pause me for a cup of tea.
I won't mind! Whether you're curious about an alternative to Reiki, want to deepen your mediumship development, or are simply beginning your spiritual journey,

I hope you've enjoyed reading about my experiences, even if some of them made you think, "Well, this Daniela certainly has some interesting ideas!"

And yes, maybe I do! But that's part of the fun of exploring the Spirit World, isn't it?
